Easy Health Snack Recipes

When you make snacks at home, you have control of how much fat and other ingredients go into them. These snacks are so easy to make, your kids can help you make them, or they can make them themselves!
Mini Pizza
Toast an English muffin, spread spaghetti sauce and sprinkle cheese, broil till melted.

Smoothie
Freeze grapes, bananas, cherries, peaches, blend yogurt.
Crunch Mix
Mix cereals, pretzels, and nuts.
Frozen Graham Yogurt Sandwich
2 graham cracker squares, any flavor
2 tablespoons frozen yogurt, any flavor
Scoop 2 tablespoons of slightly softened frozen yogurt between two cracker squares. Squeeze together to make a sandwich. Eat immediately or wrap in plastic and freeze for later
(Per serving: Calories-85, Carbohydrate-17 g. Fat-1 g)
Homemade Snack Mix
1 cup tiny twist pretzels
1 cup Multi Bran Chex cereal
1 cup Quaker Oatmeal Squares cereal
1 cup Crispix cereal
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup dried cranberries
Place all ingredients in a large bowl. Mix with clean hands or spoon. Store either in a large container and measure out servings at snack time, or measure 1/2-cup servings into individual snack bags.

Clinical Supervisor Retiring

Jackie Ward, RN Clinical Supervisor of Mecosta Health Services is retiring in April.
Previous to working at MHS for five years, she worked in the Emergency Department and as House Supervisor at Mecosta County General Hospital for a total of six years.
As Clinical Supervisor, she developed its Allergy Injection Program, supervised a total of 12 people including nurses and staff from the Referral Office. She was the liaison between the providers and office staff, handling concerns or general messages.
Jackie says, "I've worked 45 years in nursing, and out of all of my places

of employment, I believe MHS and MCGH hire the friendliest people. I can't say enough about the doctors at MHS. They all went out of their way to make my job as easy as possible. And Gail Bullard is the best boss I have ever had. All the women get along so well."
After she retires, Jackie plans to spend a lot of time in her yard, managing her flower beds at her home in Rodney, and spending more time with her retired husband.She has 3 children and 7 grandchildren.

Next month, she and her husband plan to travel to Washington State for her 38 year old son's retirement ceremony from the U.S. Navy.
Jackie also plans to visit the office regularly to keep in touch!
Replacing Jackie will be RN Tammy Hoover, who currently works with Dr. Wright:
