Michigan State Medical Society Honors Dr. Pusczak for 50 Years!

George B. Pusczak, M.D. (Internal Medicine) was recently honored for his years in practice by the Michigan State Medical Society. Dr. Pusczak received his “Fifty Year Pin” before the MSMS House of Delegates, along with other recipients of the honor, highlighting five decades of dedicated medical care in our community.
A 1960 graduate of Central Michigan University and the University of Michigan Medical School, Dr. Pusczak completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. He also served in the United States Air Force prior to taking up practice in Big Rapids in 1966 when he accepted an appointment to the Medical Staff of what was then Big Rapids Community Hospital (now Mecosta County Medical Center).
Each year, the Michigan State Medical Society recognizes members who are celebrating their 50th anniversary of graduation from medical school. Dr Pusczak is one of 174 physicians to be so honored, representing 8,700 years of medical service to their patients. David Fox of the Michigan Stare Medical Society writes: “Beginning their medical careers in 1960, these physicians assumed important roles in a medical generation distinguished for its unprecedented achievements in advancing and promoting human health care.” The Michigan State Medical Society is the statewide professional association of medical doctors in Michigan and is affiliated with the American Medical Association. Physician policies on various issues involving public health, health care delivery and medical ethics are set at the annual MSMS House of Delegates meeting.
“Dr. Pusczak’s long and successful career stands as a testament to his professionalism and his humanity,” notes Frederick Guenther, M.D., Chairman of the Mecosta Medical Center Board of Trustees, “His outstanding service, particularly in the area of Critical Care medicine, has enhanced the lives of many in our community. It has been a distinct privilege to extend our assistance to him and to his patients and to be counted among his colleagues and friends.”
