MCMC Board of Trustees
Mecosta County Medical Center is governed by a nine-member Board of
Trustees, three of whom may be healthcare providers. Trustees are appointed
by the Mecosta County Commissioners for four-year terms. They serve as
volunteers, and are required to be county residents.
The Mecosta County Medical Center Board of Trustees determine hospital
policy and provides direction and counsel on management, administration,
planning, and development.
Andrew J. Butler
AJ joined the MCMC Board in January 2007. He works as a financial advisor for Edward Jones in downtown Big Rapids. AJ came to Big Rapids in 2004 after serving 11-years in the United States Marine Corps. While in the Marines, AJ flew attack helicopters and achieved the rank of Major. He currently serves as the fundraising director for the Mecosta County Chapter of Habitat for Humanity and as President of the Big Rapids Cardinals Sports Boosters. AJ has a son, Canyon Jake and enjoys coaching his little league baseball team in the summer. AJ enjoys fly fishing and being involved with the Big Rapids Jaycees. |

Bob Fulmer
Bob has a lifetime of community service, from his early days as a Junior Achievement advisor and Babe Ruth League coach to serving two terms as president of the Board of Education in Ballston Spa, New York, two terms as president of the Canadian Lakes Property Owners Corporation Board, and two years as president of the MCMC Foundation Board. In his 36 year career with General Electric he held a variety of managerial positions in Sales and Customer Service and was instrumental in establishing a world-wide organization for handling gas turbine after-market parts. Bob's outside interests have included many on-stage roles with the Canadian Lakes Players and STAGE-M, as well as quartet singing and golfing. He is married to Marilyn Mehl, a Big Rapids native who was born at Mecosta County Medical Center when it was called Community Hospital. They have lived in Canadian Lakes since 1992. |

Frederick Guenther, M.D.
Fred has served the Mecosta County Medical Center Board since 1992 and is currently Chairperson. He is a practicing physician and President of Obstetrics & Gynecology of Big Rapids, P.C. He also serves on the Michigan Tech Fund Board of Trustees and presently serves on the Mecosta County Services Board. He was a member of the Mecosta County Medical Center Foundation, and has lived in the Big Rapids area since 1983. |

Peter Kent
Pete currently serves on the Mecosta County Medical Center Board, MCMC Foundation Board, and is Chairman of the MCMC Strategic Planning Committee. He has owned Pete's Cleaners since 1961, and is a licensed realtor with Coldwell Banker and Blakely Realty. He served as President of the Big Rapids Jaycees and State Vice President for the Michigan Jaycees. He was Vice President of the Big Rapids Chamber of Commerce and is a board member of Friends of Ferris State University. |

Terry M. Nerbonne, Ph.D.
Terry joined the Mecosta County Medical Center Board in January 2008. He is a full professor in the Ferris State University School of Criminal Justice and the Director of the FSU Law Enforcement Academy. He also serves as a Criminal Justice consultant and expert witness in the areas of police policy and procedures. He has been a resident of Mecosta County since 1973 and serves as an elder at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. |

Dave Nicol, Ph.D.
Dave joined the MCMC Board in January 2007. He is Dean of the FSU College of Business, as well as a Professor of Management. Prior to coming to Ferris, Dave taught at the University of Houston, while earning his Ph.D. in Management, and taught and held administrative positions at Frostburg State University in Maryland. Before entering academia, Dave spent 20-years in business, in a variety of industries, from start-ups to Fortune 100 companies, holding positions in finance and general management, including 10-years as President or CEO. Dave and his wife, Lolly, moved to Big Rapids in 2001. She has served on both the Hospital Auxiliary Board and the Artworks Board. |

Wayne O'Neil
Wayne joined the Mecosta County Medical Center board in January 2008. As a County Commissioner for six years, Wayne retired from Hanchett Manufacturing after 32 years and is a life resident of Mecosta County. He is currently serving as a Trustee on the Big Rapids Township Board. Wayne has four children, all living in the Big Rapids area, and is a member of St. Mary’s Parish in Big Rapids. |

Jerome Schwind
In addition to serving on the Hospital Board, Jerome is an active member of several community organizations including the Mecosta County Economic
Development Corporation, the Big Rapids Area Industrial Development
Corporation, and the Mecosta County Area Chamber of Commerce. He is a husband and father of two children, residing in Canadian Lakes.

Jane Torry
Jane joined the Mecosta County Medical Center Board in January 2006. She serves on the Mecosta Osceola Council of Humanities and Arts Board, and has been an American Cancer Reach for Recovery contact and Coordinator for the Mecosta County Breast Cancer Support Group since 1996. Jane is a Work-Based Learning Coordinator for Kent ISD and has been a resident of Mecosta County since 1977. She served as President of the MCMC Auxiliary, Chairperson of Citizens Curriculum Advisory Committee, Township Trustee of Big Rapids Township, a Master Examiner for FSU, President of Mecosta County Council of the Arts, and on the Mecosta Health Services' Board. |
